Ingredients

2 1/2 Tomatoes, finely chopped or grated
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup Basmati Rice, soaked
1 pinch Asafoetida
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 Onion, finely chopped
1 tsp Coriander powder
8-10 Fresh Curry leaves
as per taste Salt
1/2-1 tsp Red chilli powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Kitchen king Masala
1/2 tsp Garam masala
as required Water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Rinse 1 cup of basmati rice or any rice for 2-3 times in water. Then soak the rice for 10-12 minutes. Now drain the rice and keep it aside.
Step 2
In a pressure cooker, heat 2 tbsp of oil at low flame. Add 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds and let them crackle. Then add asafoetida, onions, stir and sauté them till they become translucent in colour.
Step 3
Now Add tomatoes, curry leaves and stir them. Add turmeric powder, kitchen king, red chilli powder, garam Masala, coriander powder, black pepper powder. Mix them well.
Step 4
Now add soaked rice and Stir. Add some water. Add salt as per taste. Mix well. Now cover it and pressure cook them for 2 whistles on medium flame.
Step 5
When the pressure settles down on it's own. Then remove the lid and gently mix the rice. Serve hot with raita, plain curd or coconut chutney.
